Happy Thanksgiving to all
Had a nice T-day dinner with the folks and my Grandmother. She was in the hospital yesterday...is anemic and has a bladder infection. She was releasd today and is heading up to stay with my folks for a few days. I cooked the meal, we all gorged...it was nice.
Work has been OK. Not too busy...seems like we're in our 'Winter Slowdown'. Call volume drops off, but the patients are sicker. Well, all except the two that we picked up from the BART station last night. Both homeless, one just released from jail and the other without a ride to San Francisco. So, when one sees the other asking a BART PD officer for an ambulance because she has a headache, the other decides she has a headache and wants to go to the ER as well. It would be SO much easier if people like that just straight up said what they wanted, rather than bullshit everyone with their half-assed stories. Total waste of time. And, while I'm on the rant-path, might as well give time to all the idiot drivers out there. Look people, when you hear or see an emergency vehicle approaching, you PULL SAFELY AS FAR RIGHT AS POSSIBLE AND STOP!! You don't:
a) Ignore said vehicle and continue on your merry old clueless way,
b) Pull to the LEFT and stop,
c) Move one lane to the right and continue at your same speed,
d) Speed up and race us,
e) Flip the emergency vehicle off because you can't be bothered to do what the LAW SAYS,
f) Any or all of the above.
Nine times out of ten when we pass one of the aforementioned drivers, they are chatting merrily on their cell phones, oblivious to anyone else on the road. I think a great law enforcement technique would be to outfit all emergency vehicles with paintball guns. Someone does something stupid, said driver's car gets shot with a paintball. Police officer sees said car, pulls it over and gives the driver a ticket for being an idiot. Any car with three or more hits goes to jail. Ah....if only.
Until later...
